It’s amazing how technology changes the marketplace espically the effect cell phone ringtones have had on the music industry.
Since Young Dro released his album “Best Thang Smokin” it’s first #1 single “Shoulder Lean” has managed to rack up over 1,500,000 ringtone sales at $3.50 a pop there’s some serious money in just a few weeks!

Young Dro is in the planning stages for his first major solo tour in support of his debut album “Best Thang Smokin’”
Currently the rumoured plan is to start the tour this fall (so really any week now) with his friend and fellow Atlantic Record’s artist T.I.
The date being thrown around right now is a launch of October 27th in the Hamptons and stops are being filled out for Detroit, Memphis, St. Louis and of course Chicago but more cities should be lined up either before the tour starts or shortly afterwards.

Starz In Black and All Access DVD have contractually agreed to co-produce twelve episodes of All Access TV, the planned show will be aired monthly
While we don’t know much about the show itself we can tell you episode #1 will be centered on following Young Dro around as he plans and launches his first major tour which should be announced shortly.

After reading the title your probably wondering what this has to do with our favorite rapper Young Dro but recently a nuber of educators and NYC polititians got togather to discuss the problems of drop out and crime in city schools, during the discussian NYC Council Assemblyman Ruben Diaz Jr. made a comment about how Young Dro’s shoulder lean had a limited vocabulary.
“Parent, adults have to embrace Hip-Hop. The English language is such a powerful thing,” Diaz said. “No disrespect [to Young Dro’s] “Shoulder Lean,” [but] the vocabulary is not extensive.”
Looking at all the editting the news editors had to do to make his qoute make sense I would say his command of the english language is not very extensive.

It’s been just a short while since Young Dro’s “Best Thang Smokin” came out but its already making quite the splash on North American charts.
In just 1 week of sales his Dro’s album has managed to rack up 104,000 cd’s sold which has earned him a top spot of the Billboard Top R&B/Hip Hop album chart, as well it’s also managed to grab a top #3 ranking out of the top 200 albums on the market now and rumour has it the ringtone sales are really taking off as well but it will be a few weeks before we can report a final tally on those.
